Helen S. Meyner Meeting Constituents, 1970s
Courtesy, Special Collections and Archives, Skillman Library, Lafayette College.

Helen Stevenson Meyner (1928-1997), a Democrat from Phillipsburg, represented the 13th District in Congress from 1974 to 1978. A committed feminist and wife of former governor Robert Meyner, Meyner ran campaigns staffed largely by women and, while in Congress, helped found the Congresswomen’s Caucus.  The Caucus was devoted to researching and promoting issues of particular concern to women. These two photographs show Meyner campaigning and meeting New Jersey constituents.
