Juliet Clannon Cushing (1845-1934), president of the Consumers' League of New Jersey, is shown being congratulated by New Jersey Governor George S. Silzer after the signing of the Night Work bill, for which the Consumers' League had worked for years. This protective labor legislation prohibited women from working the "grave yard" shift in certain industries. Pictured from left to right are: Assemblywoman Katherine W. Brown; Juliet Cushing; Lillian Feickert, President of the New Jersey Women's Republican Club; Governor Silzer; Frederic M. P. Pearse, Secretary to the Governor; Mrs. Edward Fishwick, Legislative Chair of the New Jersey Women's Republican Club; and Mrs. Charles A. Woodruff, a member of the Legislative Committee.
