Dorothy Daggett Eldridge
Dorothy Daggett Eldridge (1903-1986) a peace activist, a Nutley resident, and founded the New Jersey Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy (SANE) in 1958.
She served as Director of the organization for 28 years. Through SANE, Eldridge worked to stop nuclear weapons testing. In 1980 she coordinated the New Jersey Freeze Campaign for a moratorium on the production, testing, and deployment of nuclear weapons.
