Joetta Clark Diggs

Joetta Clark Diggs, a professional track and field champion, was born on August 1, 1962.

Diggs was a middle-distance runner, specializing in the 800-meter and 1500-meter races. Clark Diggs was born in East Orange, New Jersey, and began running at age 10. She graduated from Columbia High School and attended the University of Tennessee, where she earned nine collegiate titles. Clark Diggs was a four-time Olympian, attending the 1988, 1992, 1996, and 2000 Olympics. At the time of her last Olympics, she was 38-years-old and was elected the team’s captain. During her 24-year career, Clark Diggs never missed an indoor or outdoor track season. She was a fifteen-time All American athlete and an eleven-time USA National Champion. After graduating from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Public Relations, she later completed a graduate degree in Recreation Administration. She received the New Jersey Pioneer Women of the 90’s Award in 1998. Clark Diggs currently gives motivational lectures about health and fitness through her business, Joetta Sports & Beyond.
